Matz Pulls Away for Win at Kansas

Polesitter Adam Matz capitalized on a timely caution to secure the lead during the final green flag pit cycle at Kansas Speedway, and pulled away after that point to earn his second career victory. For Matz, the win secures a spot in the playoff bracket at season’s end.

With 34 laps remaining, Brett Adams spun exiting pit road, which brought out the second and final caution of the afternoon. Prior to the caution, Jeff Yenisch looked well-positioned to cruise to a comfortable victory after saving enough fuel to make it to the end on only two stops. The caution shuffled things considerably, with Yenisch restarting in 7th and ultimately finishing in third.

Trent Ringler put together a strong showing after starting mid-pack and finishing second. Charlie Woods earned his best career finish in fourth place, and Johnny Avila finished fifth after leading a race-high 69 laps.

The Elite Series has next week off for Mother’s Day and will head to Talladega Superspeedway on May 16 for the second race of the season. Catch all the action live on Trackside Racing Network!
