Matz Wins at Texas

Similarly to his first win this season at Kansas, Adam Matz took advantage of a timely caution during the final green flag pit sequence, and cruised to victory at Texas Motor Speedway.

The second half of the Texas Two Step Double Header was called seven laps short of the intended 75 lap distance due to time constraints. The drivers struggled with loose conditions on new tires, with Kian Raleigh and Steve Yenisch each spinning at the front of the pack, bringing out two of the races’ three cautions.

Bentley Glaser led 45 laps in the earlier stages, but faded to fifth after being pinned down a lap when the caution flew right after he came down pit road for service. This opened the door for Matz to seize control of the race, as Matz and runner-up Jeff Yenisch had not yet pitted when the caution flew. Johnny Avila, Jackson Van Volkinburg and Glaser rounded out the Top 5.

The ASL Elite Series is off until its next race on June 6 at Phoenix Raceway.
