Hunt Tames The Rock for First Career Victory

Duane Hunt became the ninth different winner on the season, pacing the field at Rockingham Speedway by over eight seconds. It was Hunt’s first career Elite Series victory, and it couldn’t have come at a better time, as the victory secures a spot in the semfinal round of the playoffs.

It was a rough race for several championship contenders who looked primed to challenge Hunt for the win. Johnny Avila crashed out of the race during the competition caution when his VR headset died spontaneously and will now be forced to race his way through each round of the playoffs. Steve Yenisch also showed speed, but crashed during his green flag pit stop and failed to transfer to the Round of 12.

Hunter Waters, Justin Gann, Adam Matz and Todd Cray rounded out the Top 5. Joining them in the Round of 12 will be Hunter Waters, Jesse Bunnell, Jeff Yenisch, Ray Polking, Bentley Glaser, Alexander Hammonds and Tyler Saville.

Round 2 of the playoffs is at Auto Club Speedway on April 24 at 8:30 pm.
