Elite Series’ Sixth Season Looks to be its Best Yet

The American SimRacing League Elite Series returns from its summer break on July 10, with several significant changes as it enters its sixth season of competition. Most prominently, Kitty Kat Coin jumps on board as title sponsor of the series.

While the Elite Series has run the NASCAR Next Gen cars before, this will be the first season since the implementation of several specification changes and draft updates to the car. Upon its initial release, the model frequently led to pack-style racing with high downforce. The recent changes now result in a more difficult car to drive, with tire management and driver skill now of more importance.

The series schedule has also been shaken up, with the new 17-race schedule being the longest in league history. A new points-based playoff format that more closely models real-world NASCAR is now used, which now features a 7-race, 12-driver format.

Finally, race strategy will now be even more compelling, with the use of points-paying stages and playoff points awarded to stage and race winners. For those drivers that aren’t fortunate enough to punch their ticket to the playoffs with a race win, maximizing points each race will be of critical importance.

These changes, combined with a strong slate of returning and new drivers looks to make the Fall 2022 season of the Elite Series its most compelling yet. New drivers looking to join the action are encouraged to apply at the Join ASL page.
