Steve Yenisch Leads YenSport 1-2 Finish at Daytona

Steve Yenisch made a last-lap pass on his brother, Jeff, to win the Fall 2022 season opener at Daytona. The win marks Steve Yenisch’s seventh career victory, but only his first since early in the Fall 2021 season. His one lap led was the most important, and led to a coveted guaranteed playoff berth.

Daytona was unusually treacherous, with the slick conditions creating handling issues in the middle stages of the race. Despite the conditions, the 30 drivers in attendance put on a great show, and many different drivers found themselves in contention at different stages of the race. Tyler Saville took the stage win after a large wreck on the final lap of the stage shook up the running order.

The pole award was won by Paul Krumrei, who backed up his qualifying speed with a Top 10 run. The duels were won by Johnny Avila and Justin Gann, respectively.

The Elite Series returns on July 17 at Nashville Superspeedway.
