Steve Yenisch Wins at Homestead; Matz Grabs Final Playoff Spot

Steve Yenisch dominated the final race of the Round of 8 at Homestead and clinched a spot in the Championship Race next weekend at Phoenix Raceway. Yenisch entered the race trailing his brother Jeff Yenisch by six points for the final championship berth, but took care of business with the convincing victory. Steve won the pole, won the first stage and cruised to a 3.5 second victory over Jeff, his sixth of the season.

Adam Matz did what he had to do to grab the final championship berth on points, finishing third and prevented Jeff Yenisch from fully erasing the seven point advantage he had entering the race. Matz and Steve Yenisch join Johnny Avila and Hunter Waters as the four drivers competing for a championship.

Jeff Yenisch made a strong bid at a championship berth, finishing second. Ultimately, the older tires he had at the end of the race caused him to fade at the end. Other drivers needing a win to advance were Tyler Saville (4th place), Duane Hunt (6th place), Jesse Bunnell (9th) and Justin Gann (11th).

The Championship Race at Phoenix will be broadcast live on WFO Racing Network at 8:20 pm on Nov. 13th!
